Meet the Family

In the mid 1940's my dad took a job working every day after school at a butcher shop in Newark in order to help out at home. This is where he got his start in the food industry and learned the trade of a being a butcher. Within a few years, with hard work and determination, he saved enough money at the age of 19 to purchase his own business which was called the White Star Meat Market located on North 6th Street in Newark. That was the year 1950. Over the next few decades of selling prime meats and poultry, imported delicacies and cheeses to the Italian-American community, his business thrived. In the year 1973, he, along with my mom, who had an intense passion for cooking, decided to convert part of the meat market into a kitchen and started catering small jobs under the new name of "Giuliano's Catering Service". Within 3 years, the business grew so successful that the need to expand was evident. The process began of remodeling the rest of the market into a full-service off-premise catering establishment.

In 2001, the same year my father passed away, we relocated to a bigger and better state-of-the-art facility in East Hanover, NJ, personally designed to meet the needs of an ever-expanding customer base. With my father gone, the sole responsibility of running the family business fell into my lap; but I've been blessed to have my mom alongside me every day as part of my primary staff until her retirement in 2014 at the age of 83! Mom recently passed away on 3/7/2021 but her years of experience and tradition are what make Giuliano's the epitome of a true family business and she will truly be missed. My wife, Michelle, who manages our office, makes sure daily operations run smoothly and consults with clients throughout the entire party planning process. She also joins me in the kitchen as my partner! We also have a full staff of family members, relatives and dear friends with responsibilities ranging from cleaning to food prep to delivery to our professional wait staff.
